| RUSSELL HENRY TAFT
DIP- D-20-550 -J. Carpenter- (24-MRe-6.5"-Dor.)
Parentage unknown-but likely Mary Jane Carpenter is in this one's
background. Our beloved daylily friend, Sally Millman-Taft, was the wife of
Russell. She was so pleased when I wanted to name this lily for her
husband, Russell, for the memorial garden she was making. I never met
Russell. Sally chose the registration name just as you see it above. This
was a small way of showing my appreciation for the good I felt Sally did in
our daylily world. RUSSELL HENRY TAFT is a remarkable flower. The 6.5"
blossoms are of the heaviest substance, well formed, round, flat-faced,
ruffled, lime-green in color, and gloriously beautiful. The scapes have two
way lateral branching with 20 buds or more. The very dormant cultivar
repeats its performance here with second scapes. It is fertile both ways,
but not the easiest parent. Double fans. $100.00
