OUR FRIEND SALLY

DIP- D-20-369- SCOTTISH CREAM TREAT X MARY JANE CARPENTER- J. Carpenter- (20"-MRe-6"-Dor.) Little did I know when I named the lily for Sally's late husband that I would also be naming one the same year in memory of Sally herself. What a loss our daylily world sustained with our dear friend's passing. Sally Millman-Taft was a friend to all of us in the AHS and some of us came to know her best by her robin postings. Because she was a special friend to so many I have chosen the name- OUR FRIEND SALLY.

The radiance of this lily is exceptionally beautiful, but at the same time it remains quite subdued by the radiance and vivaciousness we remember in our friend, Sally. Perhaps this cultivar possesses the most impeccable substance of any I have released. It is almost wax-like in its substance and consistently opens well. The cream color gains overlays and blendings of pink as the sunshine filled day progresses. Scapes are top branched with up to 20 buds. OUR FRIEND SALLY exhibits one of the greenest throat daylilies I have ever had- the green radiantly blends outward into the far reaches of the wide petals. The cultivar is fertile both ways and dormant.
