This cultivar is truly a powerhouse for breeding. In view
of the tremendous effects on dips it should come as no
surprise that it is seemingly , at least at this point in
time, going to be even more powerful as a tet
conversion. It has even greater effect in producing
strong picotee edging in the tets. Another thing showing
up in the seedlings is the yellow tooth edging on sepals
of some of Tet Lavender Blue Baby kids. The "blue" is
also being carried well into some of the kids. There are
several seedlings on the 97 and 98 panorama which are
from tet LBB- in these you can see the powerful effect
of TLBB. This tet conversion and the tet conversion of
Dena Marie are producing some remarkable seedlings.
Seedlings 98P 1T, and 97P 30T give you an idea of
what Tet Dena Marie is doing.
As to availability on Tet Lavender Blue Baby, it is
hoped that we can release it fall of '99 or spring of
2000. We think we may have 25 plants by then and we
have near that many on the list for it now. The cultivar
is dormant. As a tet it is quite pod fertile as well as
pollen fertile. The seedlings being produced by it are
generally vigorous and well branched.
