| ELSIE SPALDING MEMORIAL
TET Polynesian Love Song x Tet Dena Marie - J. Carpenter - release date fall 2001 - (26”-EMRe-6.5”-Ev.) When I first started my work in the tet program one of the goals was to develop the wider sepals and fuller forms in flowers. Tet conversion Dena Marie has proved itself repeatedly in doing this very thing. Those of us who knew Elsie Spalding well know also
how she loved the full forms so characteristic of her diploid daylilies. I should suspect her to be smiling just now as a tetraploid flower is being attributed to her memory. Smiling because I am rather certain that this tetraploid cultivar would meet her high standards in diploids. ELSIE SPALDING MEMORIAL has fully formed flowers that are extravagantly ruffled (not pleated in appearance) and are displayed on strong scapes with two to three branches and 25 buds. The picture best describes the color and appearance. The flowers are fertile both ways though pod difficult. It is proving itself as a worthy parent and has produced a seedling for us that has some of the most deeply fissured sculpting to date. $175.00
